The Rustic roots

Story

Carter started Rustic Roots while he was still in high school out of his parents' garage. Using his dads' tools and his bad woodworking skills, he was determined to create something that would represent his morals and values. He eventually came across farmhouse tables as his mom LOVED anything farmhouse related. So, he crafted his first table ever, put an epoxy glaze over the craft and listed his table on Etsy. (Carter still has his first table to this day safe in his room) After he listed his table for $500 on Etsy it took 4 months before he made his first sale. Carter was ecstatic as he received the notification while working his day job as a propane service tech. Unaware of Etsy's rules. They took a portion of that sale leaving Carter with $325 left to build a table for his first customer. Spending about $150 in materials and 15 hours later Carter was left with roughly $175 to now deliver his "masterpiece" to his first customer. This customer happened to be 980 miles away. So as Carter scoured the internet for the cheapest option to ship his first bought product. The cheapest option he found was $650. This left Carter with a net profit of -$500. This was the first of many mistakes for the young entrepreneur. Things started to look up for Carter as he never gave up working tirelessly for months on end barely scraping a sale a month. Carter was reaching out to anyone and everyone that would listen to convince them to buy what he was selling. Things started to look up for the young entrepreneur and as soon as he graduated high school, he made his way to the bank to retrieve a loan to build a small shop next to his mom and dad's house. Carter quickly realized he didn't have enough money from his loan to finish this project so as he drained what he had in his business account and began to tap into his personal accounts it felt like he was back at ground 0 all over again! With only $300 in his bank accounts total. He worked day and night to ensure this would never happen again. Eventually selling one table and then selling a second and a third and so on. After 3 months he dug himself out of this whole once again and vowed to never let this happen again. Boy was he wrong as only a couple months later he mismanaged his business once again leaving himself in a hole after purchasing a company delivery truck. So, he got back to work for the third and final time working himself to an $18,000/month something he never thought was possible. Delivering tables to places like Kansas, Ohio, Indiana all from his home in southwest Wisconsin. Today, Carter has learned from all his mistakes and has made what you see today "Rustic Roots" This story is only the beginning and continues to grow every day.
